Aboriginal Community Relations - Roche becomes the first engineering firm to receive a Silver Level Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) certification

QUÉBEC, Sept. 25, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) has granted Roche Ltd, Consulting Group (Roche) a Silver Level in the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) certification program. This certification attests that Roche maintains harmonious, sustainable, and economically and socially beneficial partnerships with Canadian Aboriginal communities and businesses. Roche is the first Canadian engineering firm and the first company from Quebec to receive this certification level.

"Our goal is to generate a positive impact in the communities, but also to contribute to the greater welfare and development of the people who live there. The Silver Level PAR certification recognizes our efforts in this area."

Actions toward concrete engagement

In 2015, Roche instituted a "Aboriginal Relations and Partnerships Policy," to mark the company's deep commitment to Aboriginal community development. Roche has a dedicated team specialized in community relations and it also encourages the hiring of Aboriginal employees. In recent years, close collaboration with Aboriginal communities and businesses has on several occasions led to a memorandum of understanding.

The PAR certification—the only one of its kind—targets best practices in Aboriginal community and business relations. The certification process includes independent assessments of Aboriginal relations in four key areas: employment, business development, community investment and community engagement.
