Absolute Software Expands Governance and Compliance Support with New Computrace Features

Computrace 5.11 Provides End-of-Life Data Delete Certificate

VANCOUVER, June 5, 2012 /CNW/ - Absolute® Software Corporation (TSX: ABT), the leading provider of firmware-embedded, persistent endpoint security and management solutions, announced today the release of Absolute Computrace® 5.11.  With this release, Absolute customers now have more tools to securely address the critical governance and compliance requirements they are challenged by every day in implementing their data security and management strategy. Computrace 5.11 includes industry leading features such as the ability to inventory device serial numbers for greater efficiencies while performing asset administration tasks and to generate an End-of-Life Data Delete Certificate to prove compliance.

This new certificate is generated at the successful completion of an End-of-Life Data Delete command in the Absolute Customer Center console. The certificate is signed by the customer and retained as proof that no data remains on the device after it was decommissioned, providing Absolute customers with the ability to prove compliance with corporate and government regulations.

A Computrace data delete command provides IT administrators with the ability to remotely delete data from devices regardless of user or location.  Data delete commands can be stealthy so unauthorized users are unaware until after deployment; perpetual so the data on a missing or stolen device can never be accessed again; granular so only specific documents and data are deleted; and enforceable to ensure IT policies are complied with when decommissioning or repurposing a computer.
