Absolute Software Supports Apple's New Streamlined Device Enrollment Program
Absolute Manage Customers can Streamline iOS Device Enrollment and Maintain Management of Devices
VANCOUVER, March 11, 2014 /CNW/ - Absolute® Software Corporation (TSX: ABT), the industry standard for persistent endpoint security and management solutions for computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones, today announced full support for Apple's new streamlined Device Enrollment Program (ADEP), with the release of Absolute Manage® 6.4.2.
The latest release of Absolute Manage provides customers with zero-touch configuration for iOS deployments, streamlining the device setup process. Customers have the ability to include mandatory Absolute Manage enrollment, ensuring devices cannot be removed from management. Wireless supervision can be enabled to provide a higher level of oversight, providing additional features such as web-content filtering. These enhancements allow enterprise customers to significantly reduce the workload required when provisioning new iOS devices. Using Absolute Manage, customers can set up all devices consistently with minimal end-user input.
"Portland Public Schools worked closely with the development teams at Apple and Absolute Software to pilot the ADEP process. The ability to provision iPads over the air will significantly reduce the amount of time spent physically preparing iPads, allowing our school-based staff to focus on other meaningful work," said Jonathan Vail, User Experience Management Lead at Portland Public Schools. "Additionally, applying permanent management profiles will increase security and maintain desired configurations for each device."
"Working with Apple on the pilot ADEP program allowed us to integrate more automated features into Absolute Manage that will benefit all of our customers," said Errol Olsen, Interim CEO at Absolute Software. "Combining ADEP with Absolute's unique smart groups and policies allows administrators to save time by automating key workflows such as application and content distribution, device restrictions or policies. With Absolute Manage and ADEP, end-users can be productive from the moment they receive their device."
Availability
Absolute Manage 6.4.2 is available today. This release also includes a new version of the Absolute Manage Windows agent, an updated Encryption Status Report, and several maintenance updates. ADEP is currently only available within the US, on devices purchased directly from Apple.
