Absolute Software Supports Windows 8 and OS X Mountain Lion
Absolute Manage 6.1.2 delivers best-in-class cross-platform support for the latest Windows and Apple platforms
VANCOUVER, Aug. 28, 2012 /CNW/ - Absolute® Software Corporation (TSX: ABT), the leading provider of security and management for PC, Mac, iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices and data, announced today the release of Absolute Manage 6.1.2 which supports both Windows 8 and OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
The release of Absolute Manage 6.1.2 reinforces the position of Absolute Manage as the leading cross-platform client management solution available today. Unlike traditional software vendors, Absolute Manage provides organizations with the ability to manage PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone devices from a single console.
Although Windows 8 has not yet been released, Absolute Manage 6.1.2 has been tested with, and fully supports, the latest pre-release version of Windows 8, allowing Absolute customers to immediately begin OS migration planning. Additional capabilities with this release include enhanced Apple Configurator support with placeholder records that support the seamless integration of Absolute Manage with Active Directory and Open Directory, even for devices enrolled via Apple's Configurator.
"Many of our customers use Absolute Manage to manage and secure multiple operating systems and form factors, so it's imperative that we deliver support for new versions of operating systems as quickly as possible," states John Livingston, Chairman and CEO of Absolute Software. "By maintaining our first-to-market position, our customers can upgrade their deployments without delay. This level of responsiveness is one of the reasons we received the highest support quality score among all vendors in Gartner's Client Management Tools Magic Quadrant."
"We used to need three or four products to do what Absolute Manage does for us today in a single product. It allows us to skinny down our portfolio, decrease license fees, improve efficiencies, and save time," said Kirk Langer, Director of Technology, Lincoln Public Schools.
