MONTREAL, Jan. 16, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Éducaloi is pleased to announce that, under the Roadmap for Canada's Official Languages 2013-2018, it has received significant funding from the Department of Justice Canada to meet the needs of Quebec's English-speaking minority.
This funding, which runs until 2018, means that Éducaloi can continue to provide legal information and education services in English, and also improve and expand these services to better meet the distinct needs of English-speaking communities in the province. Éducaloi will be able to create new legal information resources in a variety of formats, to support community organizations offering services in English, and to promote legal education by providing resources to schools and the adult education and literacy sectors. Éducaloi will be calling on the legal community to help carry out these activities.
"This funding agreement is an immense step towards ensuring better access to justice for all Quebecers," said Me Sarah Dougherty, who coordinates Éducaloi's services in English. "Thanks to this project, almost a million citizens will have legal information and education tools suited to their particular needs," she said.
Éducaloi thanks the Department of Justice Canada for supporting its legal information and education mission. Éducaloi also thanks all the organizations and representatives of the legal community that helped it secure this funding. To meet the needs of Quebecers who look for legal information in English, Éducaloi will continue to partner with key organizations serving these citizens.
