Accueil Bonneau, Maison du Père and Welcome Hall Mission Bow Out of Réseau d'aide pour personnes seules et itinérantes de Montréal (RAPSIM) Français
MONTRÉAL, April 12, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Accueil Bonneau, Maison du Père and Welcome Hall Mission will no longer be members of RAPSIM. The past few years have made it clear to these three organizations that RAPSIM, which has the mandate of defending its members best interests, promotes opinions and public stances that are not always aligned with their own.
On the major issues involving homelessness, particularly housing, funding and service creation, the three organizations, working in concert with the Mission Old Brewery, will now deliver their own messages and represent their own interests before the federal, provincial, regional and municipal governments.
Accueil Bonneau, Maison du Père, Welcome Hall Mission and the Old Brewery Mission serve most of the people experiencing homelessness in Montréal. Together, the four organizations have developed a shared vision focused on creating complementary support services, to do more to prevent homelessness and eliminate chronic homelessness. Therefore, Convergence Itinérance Montréal, uniting the four organizations, aims to enhance and defend the vision, approach and preferred policies of these primary homelessness resources in Montréal, with better representation, more power and more impact.
The four organizations are not challenging RAPSIM's role. On the contrary, it is a very important player in the community sphere and should continue its mission to represent the interests of its members.
