Acting Locally Takes New Meaning with the Launch of the goeasy Community Project and the Chance for One Community to Win up to $50,000
MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 13, 2016 /CNW/ - Inspired Canadians now have the chance to positively impact their communities with the launch of the goeasy Community Project that will award $50,000 to a worthy project. goeasy Ltd. (TSX:GSY), ("goeasy" or the "Company"), the leading full service provider of goods and alternative financial services that improve the lives of everyday Canadians, designed the goeasy Community Project to support individuals looking to create change in their own backyards by nominating local projects for the chance to win $50,000 towards their project.
Local residents have the greatest understanding of what projects will have the most significant impact on their community's quality of life. The goeasy Community Project taps into local passions and insights to identify and fund meaningful change. Anyone can nominate a project they believe will benefit from this $50,000 award and the Canadian public will help determine the winning community by voting online for their favorite project.
"As a company with over 380 store and branch locations, we are embedded in many local communities throughout Canada and wanted to find a meaningful way to make an impact in the neighbourhoods in which we live and work. With $50,000 at stake, we believe this program can make a real difference and touch the lives of many Canadians in an impactful way," said David Ingram, President and CEO of goeasy.
Any local project across Canada ranging from a new playground to renovations at a community center can be entered through goeasy.com/communityproject from June 13th - July 8th. A panel of judges will then choose the top three projects and the winner will be selected through a public vote from July 15th - July 31st, with the grand prize winner being announced on August 3rd.
This campaign evolved from goeasy's 14-year partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. The National sponsorship includes a campaign to renovate all 100 kitchens in every Boys and Girls Club across the country over the next 10 years.
"We are extremely proud of the difference we have been able to make in the lives of the children who benefit from the Boys and Girls Clubs in their local communities. We wanted to extend that into all communities across Canada and empower the people that are part of those communities to help make a difference in their own local communities with projects that are important to them," said Mr. Ingram.
goeasy will document the process as the winning community builds their project and reveal the outcome with a final video being produced and promoted nationally in October. Nominate your project today at goeasy.com/communityproject and share your story, and encourage others to submit their own communities on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using #goeasyCommunity.
