TORONTO, Jan. 21, 2014 /CNW/ - Active International Canada announced two strategic hires to strengthen and deepen its team: Susanne Morello is senior vice president of media, while Mark Spencer is vice president, strategy and partner solutions.
Both Morello and Spencer will assist Active in helping companies wrestle with the many challenges they face in 2014: dealing with excess inventory, demands on marketing departments to do more with less, and developing innovative ideas to stay ahead of their competition.
"Active has had tremendous momentum over the past two years," says Andrew Bulmer, senior vice president and managing director, Active International Canada. "Our business is growing and we continue to add talented team members to meet the needs of our customers."
"Susanne Morello brings a strong understanding of the media landscape and the pressures marketers face. Our customers are always looking for that next, new thing and Mark Spencer has the background to foster new opportunities and ideas for our customers and the media community," he adds.
Morello - Marketers being asked to do more with less
"Marketers are being tasked to do more with less, whether they work in large or small companies," says Susanne Morello, the newly appointed SVP, media at Active International Canada. "It's an ongoing challenge and Active plays a key role in helping companies to extend the reach of their marketing budgets, which is a win for both our customers and their agencies."
Morello has more than 18 years of experience leading marketing, communications, digital and media strategies to drive business innovation, brand awareness and cultural transformation. Over the course of her successful career, she worked in various sectors including professional services, manufacturing, wholesale distribution, business-to-business, retail and consumer products. She held senior marketing positions at major corporations, including Noble Corporation, OfficeMax Canada (Grand & Toy), ADT Security, Inscape, and Teknion.
Spencer - new partnerships and ideas
Mark Spencer fills a newly created role as VP, strategy and partner solutions in the Toronto office. He brings extensive experience and industry skills for building alliances that focus on developing multi-platform business integration between Active's customers and media partners.
"Businesses are always looking for an idea or connection that will make a difference to their financial performance," says Spencer. "Active has access to a tremendous range of options available in creating intelligent solutions for marketers, their agencies and our media partners—particularly in this rapidly emerging multiplatform media environment. An important part of our work for our customers includes purchasing their excess inventory in order to initiate additional marketing resources for them."
Spencer has a strong background in senior sales, marketing and transformation leadership. He oversaw large integrated sales and service departments at Torstar and Canwest.
