Advisory - Health Canada warns Canadians that a Vertbaudet children's bathrobe poses a flammability hazard Français

Product: Vertbaudet Hearts children's bathrobe, light pink with white hearts.
Issue: This children's bathrobe poses a flammability hazard and does not meet the flammability requirements for children's sleepwear of the Children's Sleepwear Regulations.
What to do: Immediately stop using this product and dispose of it.
The product does not meet the flammability requirements for children's sleepwear of the Children's Sleepwear Regulations.
Loose-fitting children's sleepwear can come in contact with flammable sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches more readily than tight-fitting sleepwear. Once the sleepwear has caught on fire, it may burn rapidly, potentially resulting in severe burns to areas of a child's body.
- Immediately stop using this children's bathrobe and dispose of the product.
- General children's sleepwear safety tips:
- Dress children in actual sleepwear when putting them to bed.
- Make sure any belts, ties or sashes on children's robes are stitched firmly to the centre back of these products.
- Check for loose buttons or other small parts that could become a choking hazard.
- Check sleepers and blankets regularly for loose threads, and fix them immediately.
Health Canada has found that the affected product does not meet the flammability requirements of the Children's Sleepwear Regulations and poses a flammability hazard. The product was originally purchased online from a foreign company, Vertbaudet, and is still available for sale to Canadians on the company's website.
Health Canada continues to reach out to the company to discuss these findings, and is advising Canadians of the potential risks posed by these products.
To date, no incidents or injuries related to this product have been reported to Health Canada. The number of these products sold in Canada is unknown.
