AECL Announces Senior Management Appointment

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Dec. 16 /CNW/ - Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ramzi Fawaz as Senior Vice-President, Operations, effective immediately.

As a member of AECL's Executive Management Committee, Ramzi's global expertise and experience will play a key role in delivering excellence to our customers through our new build and life extension businesses, both of which will report to him. Equally important is Ramzi's wide-ranging management experience and understanding of customer needs, risk management, stakeholder relations and supply chain development.

An executive with more than 30 years experience on major projects, engineering and operations in the oil and gas business, Ramzi's career has spanned many countries, predominantly with Royal Dutch Shell . Most recently he was Vice-President, Projects, Shell Canada , leading an Athabasca Oil Sands Project expansion.

His extensive hands-on mega project management abilities, including managing several large, complex projects at the same time, each in different stages of planning and execution, will no doubt provide the necessary skills to see AECL's existing projects to successful completion and effectively tackle new ones.

Ramzi received a Master of Science in Power Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut , in Lebanon .
