Aéro Montréal and Federación mexicana de la industria aerospacial (FEMIA) sign a strategic collaboration agreement Français
MEXICO CITY, Mexico, June 28, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Aéro Montréal, Québec's aerospace cluster, has signed a framework agreement on collaboration with the Federación Mexicana de la industria aeroespacial (FEMIA) during the 2013 trade mission to Mexico. This agreement aims to begin a special relationship between the two aerospace clusters, increase exchanges of information on local and international collaborative projects, and promote international monitoring.
"We are very pleased to sign this first collaboration agreement with Mexico. It represents a major opportunity for Québec companies who must constantly adapt and reinvent themselves in order to stand out from the competition and grow beyond our borders," said Maria Della Posta, Chairman of the Board of Aéro Montréal and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC).
In the context of globalizing supply chains, Québec suppliers must be more flexible and reduce their production costs in order to meet the demanding requirements of major OEMs. "This agreement will, among other things, bring members of the two clusters closer together and thereby promote the development of strategic partnerships that will ultimately strengthen the position and capabilities of Québec companies," added Suzanne Benoît, President of Aéro Montréal.
Mexico represents a market that is being targeted for potential development by Aéro Montréal's Market Development-SME Working Group. "It is critical to better understand the dynamics of the Mexican aerospace cluster to increase Québec SMEs' knowledge about the market and more quickly identify business opportunities for them," said Hugue Meloche, Chair of the Market Development-SMEs Working Group and President of Groupe Meloche.
In general, this agreement involves the exchange of information on the needs and expectations of members of both organizations. It also provides reciprocal support for research projects, the implementation of trade missions, the exchange of information on the optimization of the supply chain and human resources, among others, through international forums such as Aéro Montréal's Aerospace Innovation Forum 2013.
