Aéro Montréal applauds the Québec government's decision to allow the gradual resumption of manufacturing activities Français
MONTRÉAL, April 28, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - Aéro Montréal announced today that it welcomes the decision of the Québec government and public health authorities to allow, as of May 11, the gradual resumption of manufacturing activities throughout the province, while respecting strict sanitation measures. The Québec aerospace cluster would also like to thank the Premier of Québec, François Legault, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Pierre Fitzgibbon, and the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity, Jean Boulet, for their attentiveness, support and openness to the concerns of thousands of Québec workers and companies, for whom we are all very proud.
This gradual resumption of activity is not only a good decision for Québec's aerospace industry, which generates more than 42,100 direct jobs and sales of $15.3 billion, but for the entire Québec economy. Québec plays a leading role in the global aerospace supply chain, exporting more than 80% of its production. Although the COVID-19 crisis has impacted all aerospace and aviation industry players around the world, the resumption of activities in Québec will enable us to maintain our leadership position and allow companies in the sector to once again showcase our expertise to the world.
"We are fortunate to have a qualified workforce and innovative, high-performance companies here in Québec and we are pleased that the decision announced today will enable them to gradually resume their activities within this new normal," said Suzanne M. Benoît, President of Aéro Montréal.
