More than 15.7 million miles donated last year by Aeroplan and its members
MONTREAL, Feb. 17, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Aeroplan today announced that it will match all miles donated by members to each of the 10 Beyond Miles charitable partners as part of the 2016 "Aeroplan Match Weeks." Miles will be matched on a one-for-one basis up to 500,000 Aeroplan Miles for each Beyond Miles partner organization. This year, each organization has chosen its own match week and in turn, Aeroplan will match miles during the specified period.
"We are truly amazed by the generosity of our members," said John Boynton, Chief Marketing Officer, Aeroplan. "In 2015, Aeroplan and its Members donated more than 15.7 million miles to our Beyond Miles partners during Aeroplan's Mile Match Weeks. Members can donate to the organization they feel most passionate about and every mile has a major impact to each of these charities that influence positive change here in Canada and in communities across the world. Our partners would not be able to meet some of their goals without the support of Aeroplan Miles and we're proud to help our members make a difference and share in what is truly important to them."
The organizations use Aeroplan Mile donations to offset travel costs including flights, hotel accommodation and car rentals for projects they work on here in Canada and across the globe. To donate miles, members simply visit www.aeroplan.com/donate.
"Aeroplan Miles are precious to the Stephen Lewis Foundation," said Ilana Landsberg-Lewis, Executive Director, Stephen Lewis Foundation. "Canadians have been tremendously generous in donating their Aeroplan Miles, and this brilliant matching initiative doubles their efforts. The miles go to support a critical component of our work: creating opportunities for African community leaders on the frontlines of the AIDS pandemic to share first-hand their sophisticated work holding back the ravages of AIDS. Our partners in Africa are always delighted to hear that the Foundation uses Aeroplan Miles to purchase flights, as it enables more financial support to go directly to their work transforming the lives of grandmothers, women, and children."
