AFN to Host Ottawa Premiere of Powerful New Documentary Film Third World

OTTAWA, Nov. 26 /CNW/ - Assembly of First Nations (AFN) Ontario Regional Chief Angus Toulouse and Quebec-Labrador Regional Chief Ghislain Picard will host a public screening of Third World Canada, a film by Andrée Cazabon that explores the impact of third world conditions in Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inniniwug (KI), a First Nation community in northern Ontario.

The AFN strongly supports public education and awareness of the realities facing First Nation citizens and communities across Canada. This film explores the day-to-day challenges faced by First Nations, while at the same time showcasing the courage and resilience of the people of KI located about 1800 km northwest of Ottawa.
In her fifth film, Gemini-nominated Ottawa director Andrée Cazabon's Third World Canada brings to light the impact of reserve conditions through poignant testimonies of children left behind after the suicide of three parents. The documentary film originally premiered at Toronto's Royal Ontario Museum in September. This Ottawa premiere has an anticipated sell-out crowd of 300. Tickets available at www.thirdworldcanada.ca.
