AFP's Greater Toronto Chapter Celebrates the Generosity of Local Citizens at 2013 Philanthropy Awards
Annual awards honours outstanding youth, philanthropists, corporation, individuals, and foundation for their achievements in giving and volunteering
TORONTO, Nov. 20, 2013 /CNW/ - As the first country to legislatively recognize National Philanthropy Day, Canada is proud to be a global leader in charitable efforts around the world. The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Toronto Chapter will honour extraordinary Canadians today during the Philanthropy Awards Luncheon held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Each year, the Philanthropy Awards program pays tribute to the exceptional contributions and achievements of Canadians in time, leadership, and financial support.
The 2013 list of award recipients include: Margaret and Jim Fleck (Outstanding Philanthropists); Sam and Claire Duboc (Outstanding Volunteers); The Home Depot Canada (THDC) (Outstanding Corporation); Catherine Donnelly Foundation (Outstanding Foundation); Rukhsar Jaffer (Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Ages 5-17); Kristina and Heather DiClemente (Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Ages 18-23); First Book Canada (Mo Davies Small Organization for Excellence in Fundraising); and David Love (Lifetime Achievement Award).

"This year's award winners are truly inspirational. Through their determination, generosity, and investments in time and resources, they have made a significant difference in our community."
The Philanthropy Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions made by individuals and organizations who have demonstrated excellence and best practices in achieving high-quality fundraising through either their own efforts or their vision and strategy. Each year, nominations are received from the Chapter's 1,300 members supporting the different award categories, which are then reviewed by a committee who chooses the recipients.
Since 1995, AFP's Greater Toronto Chapter has honoured extraordinary Canadians who have raised the bar in the acts of giving and volunteering during its annual Philanthropy Awards Luncheon. As a leader in the promotion of philanthropy, the Association recognizes the extraordinary achievements of this year's recipients, all of whom have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to ethical fundraising and transformational leadership.
