Afren plc (AFR LN) - Afren plc applies to the Ontario Securities Commission to cease being a reporting issuer in Canada

TORONTO, June 18, 2013 /CNW/ - Afren plc ("Afren" or the "Company") announced today that it has applied for a decision from the securities regulatory authority in Ontario, the Ontario Securities Commission, as principal regulator, that it is no longer a reporting issuer in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Afren is not a reporting issuer in any other Canadian jurisdiction.
If the requested decision is made by the Ontario Securities Commission, Afren will cease being a reporting issuer in any jurisdiction in Canada and, as a result, will no longer be required to file financial statements and other continuous disclosure documents with Canadian securities regulatory authorities.
Notwithstanding a decision that Afren is not a reporting issuer in Canada, Afren will continue to file all financial statements and other continuous disclosure materials required to be filed by Afren in accordance with applicable laws and regulations of the United Kingdom, including rules of the Financial Conduct Authority and the London Stock Exchange. All such continuous disclosure documents of Afren are publicly available to all Afren securityholders on the investor relations page of Afren's website at www.afren.com and Afren securityholders resident in Canada will continue to receive copies of continuous disclosure documents that are required to be delivered to securityholders in the United Kingdom, in the same manner and at the same time as is required under the applicable laws and regulations in the United Kingdom, including the rules of the Financial Conduct Authority and the London Stock Exchange.
