LONGUEUIL, QC, July 7, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Within the context of the reorganization of some of its fluid milk processing activities, Agropur Cooperative has announced the closure of its plant in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville. The official closing date will be in late May of 2016.
In order to remain competitive, Agropur must continuously review and optimize its processing activities. Considering the age and condition of the building and equipment at the Saint-Bruno plant, significant investments would have been necessary to keep it operational. In addition, the location of the plant in downtown Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville does not allow room for future expansion. The plant's production will be moved to other Agropur facilities.
Agropur is aware of the impact that this closure will have on the 67 permanent and 27 temporary employees at this plant, and will strive to minimize it. Employees who are affected by this decision will be eligible for special programs, including the possibility of applying for equivalent positions at other sites, severance packages and access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program.
