TORONTO, Sept. 1 /CNW/ - Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Canada were shocked to learn of the arrest of young men by law-enforcement authorities across Ontario on terrorism charges.
These arrests are worrisome in the year in which trials involving terrorism charges against youth in Toronto concluded.
"It appears that extremism is making inroads into the hearts and minds of the youth," said Lal Khan Malik, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Canada. "It is essential that the youth are inculcated with the Islamic Teaching of 'Love of Country is part of the Faith'".
All Canadians, regardless of faith or ethnicity must come together in support of the government, which is ever vigilant in safeguarding life and liberty of all Canadians.
It is a sad commentary on contemporary society that people around the world live in fear of terrorism that is justified in the name of religion, despite the fact than no religion teaches or permits its followers to engage in acts of terrorism.
"Certainly Islam, like other religions, forbids such heinous practices. Terrorism and violence has no place in Islam." Mr. Malik added.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has prospered throughout the world expounding and practicing its motto 'Love for All, Hatred for None'. It firmly believes in and acts upon the Qur'anic teaching: "There is no compulsion in religion." (2:257). It strongly rejects violence and terrorism in any form and for any reason.
