TORONTO, Oct. 17, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada is pleased to announce the finalists of the seventh annual Air Canada enRoute Film Festival. Award categories include Best Short Film, Achievement in Animation, Achievement in Direction, and Achievement in Cinematography.
The 2013 Air Canada enRoute Film Festival Award Nominees are:
- Sophie Jarvis and Kane Stewart for The Worst Day Ever
- Andrew Moir for Just As I Remember
- Eileen Peng for Godfather Death
- Roman Tchjen and Vaishni Majoomdar for Walk the Moon
The winner of the Best Short Film Award will receive a cash prize of $5,000 courtesy of Cineplex Entertainment. All winners will receive an all-inclusive trip for two to the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, courtesy of Air Canada.
A free public screening of the nominated short films will take place on Wednesday, November 6 at the Varsity Cinema (55 Bloor St. W., Toronto) from 7 to 8 p.m ET. An exclusive awards celebration will take place at the Panorama Bar immediately after the screening. The awards ceremony will be hosted by Lainey Lui and eTalk Canada, and for the first time ever the announcements will be streamed live on enRoutefilm.com at 9pm.
Jury members expected to attend the awards celebration include actors Enrico Colantoni and Wendy Crewson, director Michael McGowan, and producer Martin Katz.
The Air Canada enRoute Film Festival continues to grow nationally. Earlier this summer Vancouver hosted the official launch event. On November 4th, Montreal will host a panel for emerging filmmakers, followed by a screening and reception at the Centre Phi.
Voting for the People's Choice Award runs until October 31 on enroutefilm.com. The winner will be announced at the November 6 awards celebration and will win a trip for two to any destination within Canada, courtesy of Air Canada.
From August to December 2013, millions of Air Canada passengers can view all of the selected short films on their personal entertainment system with 8.9-inch wide digital in-seat monitors with touch-screen controls offering more than 600 hours of digital movies, television and music entertainment, available on demand at the touch of a finger.
