AIR FARCE RETURNS WITH A NEW YEAR'S EVE COMEDY EXTRAVAGANZA SPECIAL FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31, 8-9PM ON CBC
TORONTO, Dec. 15 /CNW/ - Let the Farce continue! Royal Canadian Air Farce is back with a new and irreverent look at the year just ending. From the meteoric rise of Justin Bieber to Ottawa's gaffes, from the G8/G20 follies to WikiLeaks' cables, the Farce will cast their comic gaze over a wide spectrum of 2010's top stories and make funny about big names in the news. Jessica Holmes returns and re-joins Air Farce vets Roger Abbott, Don Ferguson and Luba Goy, plus Farce regulars Craig Lauzon, Alan Park and Penelope Corrin for AIR FARCE NEW YEAR'S EVE 2010 at 8PM (8:30NT), Friday, December 31, on CBC Television.
Lloyd Robertson will guest on the show, bravely submitting to an affectionate and comic salute to his four decades anchoring national newscasts at CBC and CTV. His successor Lisa LaFlamme will join in the fun, along with Peter Mansbridge and Brian Williams.
On the list for an Air Farce poke are William and Kate's impending nuptials, Lady Gaga's high-protein apparel, Sarah Palin and the Tea Party bandwagon, Celine Dion's growing family, Gulf oil-spill bungler Tony Hayward and the rescued Chilean miners. Obama & Biden, the World Cup and even those ubiquitous bed bugs are also in for a Farce zapping.
"This was another sensational year for satire," says Roger Abbott. "2010 has provided us with plenty of comedy fodder and we're stacking it all up and dishing it out on the last night of the year."
And no Air Farce New Year's Eve Special would be complete with the crowning of 2010's most obnoxious newsmakers - the explosive F-Bombs will be dropped on five of the year's most notorious and annoying targets.
