Award Recognizes Connected Toys or Gaming Solutions Enabling Digital Interaction with the Physical World or Physical Interaction in the Virtual World
TORONTO, June 7, 2016 /CNW/ - Spin Master Corp., ("Spin Master") (TSX: TOY) – a leading global entertainment company – today announced that its Air Hogs Connect: Mission Drone, launching in North America this fall, was awarded "Best Game or Toy" at the 7th annual Auggie Awards at Augmented World Expo 2016. This award recognizes connected toys or gaming solutions that enable players to interact between physical and virtual worlds. Auggie Award winners are selected through a combination of public voting and a panel of judges at the event.
Air Hogs Connect: Mission Drone is the first experience to be introduced in Spin Master's revolutionary augmented reality ("AR") gaming platform that delivers immersive AR gaming capabilities. The product consists of the Mission Drone quadcopter and a portable AR mat. When these elements are paired with the free Air Hogs Connect: Mission Drone app on a smart device, players fly a remote control ("RC") physical drone in an interactive 3D digital universe as they attempt to complete a series of missions.
"With the Air Hogs Connect platform, we've blended the worlds of RC and AR, creating an immersive experience where players can now command actual vehicles inside incredible virtual game worlds," said Nick Beliaeff, Vice President Production, Spin Master Ltd. "This takes gaming and drone flight to the next level; we're excited to bring Air Hogs Connect: Mission Drone to consumers later this year, and we appreciate this recognition from the Auggie Awards."
