AIR MILES Introduces Mile Transferring Between Collector Accounts

New Feature Provides a Fourth Option to Keep Accounts Active

TORONTO, Nov. 3 /CNW/ - The AIR MILES Reward Program today announced a feature that will enable Collectors to transfer any amount of reward miles they may have to another Collector Account, providing new flexibility to the program. 

In addition to the benefit of being able to transfer miles to a friend or family member, this new feature provides another way to prevent an account from closing due to inactivity in the program.  An account is closed when no reward miles are collected, redeemed or transferred for 24 consecutive months.  For the 10 million Canadians who are active AIR MILES Collectors, this has no impact.

"Today's announcement means AIR MILES Collectors now have four ways to benefit from the program and keep their accounts active — earning, redeeming, donating and now transferring," said Pietro Satriano, President, AIR MILES Reward Program. 

Four ways to stay active:

Collect: AIR MILES reward miles can be earned at thousands of Sponsor locations from coast-to-coast, as well as online at airmilesshops.ca

Redeem:  AIR MILES reward miles can be redeemed for more than 1,200 rewards in numerous categories, from travel to merchandise to gift certificates to public transit passes

Donate:  AIR MILES reward miles can be donated to select charities including the Canadian Red Cross, WWF Canada, Special Olympics Canada and Kids Help Phone.

Transfer:  AIR MILES reward miles can now be transferred from one Collector to another.

The fee to transfer miles will be 15 cents per mile transferred. Collectors routinely purchase "top up" miles at 30 cents per mile, in order to have enough miles needed for specific reward redemptions.
