MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 16, 2017 /CNW/ - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is thrilled to announce that the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) awarded the 2017 Subaru Forester with 2017 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year honours. The announcement took place during a press conference held at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.
Named Canada's Best New Small Utility this past December, Subaru's 2017 Forester was one of three finalists vying for top honours as AJAC's Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year.
The all-new 2017 Forester has an unbeatable combination of all-road/all-weather capability, superior reliability and advanced safety features, making it an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety TOP SAFETY PICK for 11 consecutive years (2007-2017).
AJAC's Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards (CUVOTY) program includes real-world driving on public roads in order to provide consumers with sound, comparative information on vehicles that are new to the market. Journalist evaluations are based on detailed criteria, including everything from safety features to cargo capacity, in order to select the best new vehicles in various categories. The goal is, ultimately, to provide highly relevant consumer-driven information for Canadian shoppers to take with them to the marketplace.
"The 2017 Forester win for Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year has capped an outstanding year," said Shiro Ohta, chairman, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. "In 2016, Subaru achieved unprecedented sales success and this award from AJAC is a wonderful tribute to the Subaru Forester as well as to our recent achievements."
With recent AJAC awards that recognized the 2015 Legacy as the Canadian Car of the Year and the 2015 Outback as Best New SUV / CUV (under $35k), both experts and consumers agree that Subaru vehicles deliver an inspired combination of safety, performance and dependability.
