Alberta Blue Cross leads industry with new standard in dental claims
EDMONTON, Jan. 7, 2015 /CNW/ - Alberta Blue Cross is looking to change the landscape of dental claim adjudication in Canada as the first benefit carrier to implement the Canadian Dental Association's CDAnet version 4.1 claim standard in conjunction with internet-based direct billing.
The new standard increases convenience for plan members and dental providers by delivering immediate coordination of benefits—while also allowing providers to send attachments such as oral digital images and treatment plans. This functionality also gives plan sponsors a greater ability to customize dental plans. Combined with internet-based direct billing, which provides dental offices with faster processing versus modem connections, implementation of the new claim standard provides a more efficient claiming experience.
Alberta Blue Cross already leads the Canadian benefits industry in electronic claims, with over 93 per cent of its $2 billion annual claim volume billed in real time by providers at the time of service. It also provides the convenience of member online claim submission, as well as member claim submission via a mobile app.
