Alberta College of Pharmacists commends Minister's Advisory Committee on
Health
"The Committee has rightly centered the focus of health care where it must be: on individuals and their families," says ACP Registrar
"We also applaud the Committee for recognizing the importance of a condensed and coordinated legislative framework that clarifies expectations and responsibilities. The proposed Alberta Health Act will uphold critical values, remove barriers to access and service delivery, and optimize care. Such a foundation is a critical starting point for a more efficient and appropriate use of resources and professionals' skills.
"Achieving the Committee's vision will require considerable effort and teamwork, but we are up to the task," states Eberhart. "Pharmacist practice is increasingly patient-centered, rather than drug centered. We know the shift in thinking this requires. More importantly, we are seeing the positive impact this shift has for patients and their families.
"We thank former Health Minister Liepert for his foresight in creating this committee. We now look forward to working with Minister Zwozdesky to turn the Committee's recommendations into reality."
