Alberta dairyman wins achievement award at The Royal

TORONTO, Nov. 14, 2015 /CNW/ - The Curtis Clark Achievement Award was presented to Rob Crest of Skycrest Holsteins, Athabasca, AB, at the 93rd Royal Agricultural Winter Fair (RAWF) this week. Crest is a third generation dairyman with an impressive resume from supporting and leading 4-H to winning awards across Canada for his herd.

"This is an unexpected honour," says Crest, who was presented with the bronze hat trophy by 2014 winner Larry Bennett of Orangeville, ON. "I've exhibited at The Royal in the past and this is one of the first years I haven't." Crest is entering an elite group and was supported by 16 of the Award's previous recipients. The award is sponsored by Holstein Canada.

Crest is active in the dairy business from caring for and feeding his herd to transporting the animals to show and fitting them so they're at their best in the show ring. He has shown cattle across Canada and has attended the World Dairy Expo in Wisconsin. He has been named "Premier Breeder" at numerous shows and his cows have brought home countless ribbons.

The Curtis Clark Achievement Award honours the character and friendliness of Clark, who was a long time exhibitor and supporter of the RAWF in the 1950s and 1960s. The trophy is one of Clark's own hats that was bronzed to be the centrepiece of the trophy. The winner of the award must exemplify the all-round ability, sportsmanship and dedication necessary to earn the respect of fellow exhibitors.
