Alberta Veterinary Medical Association Service Award Recipients
EDMONTON, Feb. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - The Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (ABVMA) is pleased to announce the recipients of its annual service awards. The awards were presented at the ABVMA Annual Member Recognition Banquet at the Carriage House Inn, Calgary on February 9, 2013.
Dr. Donald MacDonald is the recipient of the Meritorious Service Award. This award is presented to a member of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association who has demonstrated outstanding service to the ABVMA. Service may be over the past year, or over the past several years. This award is meant to recognize contributions to the association.
Dr. Frank Marshall is the recipient of this year's Veterinarian of the Year Award. This award is presented to a member of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association who has made an outstanding contribution to veterinary medicine or veterinary science as a registered veterinarian. The contribution may be over a lifetime, not just the past year. This award is meant to recognize contributions to the profession.
Dr. Leighton Coma is the recipient of the Young Veterinarian of the Year Award. This award is presented to a new Alberta Veterinary Medical Association member who has shown enthusiasm for veterinary medicine and demonstrated leadership in the profession, particularly the ABVMA. This award is normally meant to be presented to a veterinarian who has graduated within the last 5 years.
Dr. Nick Nation is the recipient of this year's Communications Award. This award is presented to a member or group of members of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association in recognition of the member's efforts to enhance the image of the veterinary profession.
Ms. Kerri Golka and Tracey Ruzicka are joint recipients of this year's ABVMA Animal Health Technologist of the Year Award. This award is presented to a member of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association who has made an outstanding contribution to veterinary medicine or veterinary science as a registered animal health technologist. The contribution may be over a lifetime, not just the past year. This award is meant to recognize contributions to the profession.
