HAMILTON, ON, May 9, 2019 /CNW/ - Alectra Inc. is providing $75,000 over a three-year period to Outward Bound Canada for the expansion of its Urban Adventure Program for Underserved Youth into the Hamilton area. This initiative is part of the company's AlectraCARES Community Support Program.
Planned activities that will be funded by Alectra's investment include:
- An afterschool program offered through the Boys and Girls Club of Hamilton that will provide an opportunity for youth to get a taste of Outward Bound experiential adventure programming while building connections and developing new skills.
- New programs with the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation centered on high school retention through the development of land-based learning.
- An initiative through the Six Nations Polytechnique, Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Knowledge that will focus on school credit accumulation, leadership building workshops and expeditions to encourage school retention.
