ALFA Announces Acquisition of Common Shares of Pacific Rubiales Energy

MONTERREY, N.L., MEXICO, May 20, 2014 /CNW/ - ALFA, S.A.B. de C.V. ("ALFA") announced today that it has acquired 97,700 common shares of Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. (the "Corporation") representing approximately 0.0312% of the total outstanding common shares of the Corporation.  The common shares were acquired through a market purchase on the Toronto Stock Exchange at a price of $18.43 Canadian Dollars per share.  As a result of this acquisition, ALFA beneficially owns, directly and indirectly through a wholly owned subsidiary, 31,437,700 common shares of the Corporation, representing approximately 10.03% of the total outstanding common shares of the Corporation.

The common shares of the Corporation were acquired by ALFA for investment purposes.  ALFA may, from time to time, increase or decrease its ownership of or control over securities of the Corporation in response to market conditions, the business and prospects of the Corporation or other factors.
