TORONTO, June 18, 2014 /CNW/ - CTV announced today the second group of teams for the eagerly awaited Season 2 of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA. The three new teams include active and adventurous married couple Jen and Shawn from Halifax, Cormac and his mother Nicole who hope to follow in the footsteps of Season 1 winners "The Tims" from their hometown of Winnipeg, and Sukhi and her brother Jinder, a pair of globetrotting entrepreneurs from Terrace, B.C., who are prepared to do anything to win. They join previously announced racers: Olympic hockey teammates Natalie and Meaghan, dating couple Alain and Audrey, and best friends Shahla and Nabeela.

Three more teams will be announced tomorrow (June 19) with the final two pairings to be revealed on Friday (June 20). Fans can also look forward to a special Season 2 exclusive, to be revealed this Friday (June 20) at noon ET by @AmazingRaceCDA.

Set to anchor CTV's Summer 2014 schedule, the most-watched Canadian television series on record kicks-off its heart-pounding second season in a new timeslot, airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, beginning July 8 on CTV and CTV GO.

Only one team can earn the title as Season 2 champions of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA. The biggest grand prize ever awarded for a Canadian competition series expanded this season to include "gas for life" from Petro-Canada. In addition, the winning team once again receives a $250,000 cash payout and the opportunity to fly free for a year anywhere Air Canada flies worldwide in Business Class, plus two Chevrolet Silverado High Country Edition Pickup Trucks. Teams are also competing for special pit stop prizes courtesy of Air Canada and Scotiabank, to be revealed during the broadcasts.
