Montréal took this opportunity to officially announced today the legacies it plans to leave Montrealers as part of the 375th anniversary of the city's founding. These legacies embrace history, access to green spaces and the St. Lawrence River and strengthen existing infrastructures as wished by Montrealers. These projects will reinvent downtown and stimulate eastern Montréal. All legacies have a cultural aspect. Cité Mémoire, Promenade urbaine « Fleuve-Montagne », Parcours découverte du Mont-Royal and the Champ-de-Mars sector project are a few examples of the projects that will lead the way to the revitalization of Montréal.
"The 375th anniversary of the founding of Montréal will be a major milestone in the city's economic recovery. It will be an opportunity to strengthen our position as a green, sustainable metropolis and an innovation capital with tangible accomplishments that are in harmony with our values and identity. In anticipation of the 375th anniversary celebrations, we have developed an action plan that will help to revitalize the city and leave behind significant contributions to the city", said the Mayor of Montréal.
The Minister Responsible for the Montréal Region Robert Poëti emphasized that these events are considered very important by the Gouvernement du Québec, which will contribute in a variety of ways. "For my part, I am totally committed to this event with a view to ensuring that together we can make this 375th anniversary a resounding success and one commensurate with our ambitions for Montréal's success and the benefits and pride this will bring."
As far as the Honorable Jean-Guy Dagenais, he confirm the federal government commitment. For "2017 will truly mark an important year for our great country as we celebrate our 150th anniversary of Canada and the 375th anniversary of your beautiful city of Montreal. Our Government will be present and contributing to the success of the 375th celebrations and we hope that all Canadians will take part in the festivities."
