Allen elected vice-president of the Canadian Teachers' Federation
HALIFAX, July 16 /CNW/ - Nova Scotia Teachers Union president Alexis Allen was elected vice-president of the Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) today, during CTF's 90th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Edmonton July 14 to 16.
"Issues affecting teachers in Nova Scotia have a national scope," says Allen. "I am looking forward to applying expertise gained here in Nova Scotia and advancing the cause of public education in Canada."
Allen was one of four CTF vice-presidents elected for one-year terms. As vice-president she will serve on the Executive for the organization and deal with key issues and resolutions that have an impact on public education, students and teachers nationally. The Canadian Teachers' Federation speaks for nearly 200,000 teachers in Canada as their national voice on education and related social issues.
