Allstate Canada launches new program with Smart Home Monitoring from Rogers
Allstate customers who install the innovative home monitoring service to save 25% on home insurance policies
TORONTO, May 29, 2012 /CNW/ - Allstate Insurance Company of Canada is excited to announce a new program for customers who have installed Smart Home Monitoring from Rogers. The two companies are teaming up in an exclusive collaboration to provide more value to their customers and to help homeowners feel confident that their property and family are protected when they're away from home.
Allstate Canada will offer Ontario homeowners, in markets where Smart Home Monitoring from Rogers is available, a discount of 25 per cent on their premium if they sign up for Smart Home Monitoring from Rogers on their house. In addition, Allstate customers will receive a free water leak sensor from Rogers as part of an exclusive hardware package that also includes an easy-to-use touchpad, three window and door sensors and a motion detector. This alliance is part of Allstate's commitment to help Canadians protect what they have today and to better prepare for tomorrow.
While monitored security systems may help to reduce crime, Smart Home Monitoring system goes well beyond burglary prevention, providing early detection of fire, smoke and water escape. "Burglaries can result in large claims, but it is property damage from fire and water where we've seen a rise in losses," says Ryan Michel, Vice President and Chief Risk Officer for Allstate Canada. "For example, damage from sewer backup accounts for 39 per cent of our water-related claims. Working with Rogers Smart Home Monitoring, a system that detects water leaks before they cause severe damage, not only helps homeowners manage their risk, it can potentially contribute to a decline in overall property damage claims. This is a win-win as it not only helps reduce potentially devastating loss of valuable items for our customers, it helps control costs for homeowners and for Allstate too," says Michel.
Smart Home Monitoring from Rogers is a home monitoring, automation and security system that uses constant broadband and wireless connections to ensure that the system is always up and running properly. The system allows users to receive real-time updates via email or text on activity in their home, and provides the ability to remotely control the system through a computer or smartphone. Additional features users can add to their plan include remote management of thermostat levels, scheduling lights, controlling small appliances, turning off water and even viewing rooms.
