Alternating traffic in downtown Montreal on October 4 for Centraide's March of 1,000 Umbrellas Français
MONTREAL, Oct. 2, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Centraide of Greater Montreal wishes to inform motorists that some streets in downtown Montreal will be partially closed during the morning and over the lunch hour on October 4 for Centraide's March of 1,000 umbrellas.
Main traffic hindrances:
Peel between De La Gauchetière West and René-Lévesque West
Closure times: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Peel between René-Lévesque West and Sainte-Catherine West
Closure times: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
René-Lévesque West between Stanley and Metcalfe
Closure times: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Sainte-Catherine West, between Stanley and Jeanne-Mance
Closure times: 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Jeanne-Mance, between De Maisonneuve West and Sainte-Catherine West
Closure times: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
We recommend that motorists avoid the city block bordered by De La Gauchetière West, Peel, Sainte-Catherine West and Jeanne-Mance between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Centraide's March of 1,000 umbrellas will bring together tens of thousands of people—including volunteers and donors as well as representatives from the public sector, trade unions, business world, community agencies—to support the fight against poverty and social exclusion. The general public is invited to join them.
Marchers will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Place du Canada, at the corner of Peel and René-Lévesque West. The march will start along Peel between De La Gauchetiere West and René-Lévesque West. At 12:00 p.m., marchers will proceed north to Sainte-Catherine West, which they will take to head to the Place des festivals at the Quartier des spectacles.
Campaign 2018 will run until the end of December. Donations can be made at centraide-mtl.org.
