CALGARY, Oct. 23, 2018 /CNW/ - Individuals and organizations are being recognized for their creativity and commitment to capturing the hearts and minds of travellers and elevating Alberta tourism—an $8.5 billion-dollar industry and key provincial economic driver.
The Honourable Ricardo Miranda, Minister of Culture and Tourism presented Alberta Tourism Awards in 11 categories, including two new ones, at the Alto Awards Gala in Banff on Monday, October 22, 2018.
Held in conjunction with the annual Travel Alberta Industry Conference, the awards also celebrate the 2018 Alto Ambassador, Maggie Davison. This annual award recognizes an exceptional Albertan making an outstanding contribution to our tourism industry.
"The Alberta Tourism Awards recognize tourism entrepreneurs who are blazing trails to offer exciting new attractions and experiences. These companies contribute to Alberta's reputation as a leading international tourism destination while also helping to diversify the economy, create jobs, and generate investment in communities across the province," said Minister Miranda.
"The efforts of this year's finalists and award recipients help inspire visitors to choose Alberta by creating memorable tourism products and campaigns and demonstrating service excellence," said Alto committee chair Tyler Riopel.
