AMA doesn't just remind you, they take care of everything too

AMA introduces new service that will complete your vehicle registration renewals automatically each year

EDMONTON, March 2, 2016 /CNW/ - Alberta Motor Association (AMA) has developed a secure online Automatic Vehicle Registration Renewal system that soon will let you register your vehicle once and forget about it. AMA will take care of the renewals automatically each year after that.

This is the first automated renewal system of its kind in Canada and AMA members can sign up online at ama.ab.ca/automatic. Once signed up, members will receive their paperwork and licence plate stickers in the mail before their registration expires – AMA takes care of remembering.

"Renewing your vehicle registration is one of those things every vehicle owner has to do each year, and it can be a hassle to remember when you need to do it," says Don Smitten, AMA's president and CEO. "With our new automatic renewal service you don't have to worry about forgetting to register your vehicle each year, or waiting in line to get the job done."

Earlier today, the Government of Alberta announced its decision to discontinue mailed reminder statements. AMA's new automatic renewal service, along with its existing annual online renewal and e-reminder services should help make the transition an easy one for motorists.

The new service goes live on Monday, April 4, 2016, but members can sign up today at ama.ab.ca/automatic to be automatically notified when it launches.

"We're excited about this new service. AMA members can already sign up to automatically renew their membership annually or pay for their membership in monthly installments, so automating vehicle registration seemed a logical next step," Smitten says. "Our members lead busy lives with work, driving kids to practice, and other family commitments. If we can take care of those predictable transactions in a safe and secure way and make life just a little bit easier, we're serving our members well."
