OTTAWA, March 12, 2012 /CNW/ - Carol Jolin, a teacher from Ottawa, has been given a first two-year mandate as President of the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO) by delegates attending AEFO's 2012 Policy Convention in Ottawa this week.
Mr. Jolin will take office on September 1, 2012. He will succeed Mr. Benoit Mercier, who is presently completing the second of two allotted mandates as President.
Mr. Jolin is pleased to have received the trust and confidence of the AEFO delegates. "We are presently facing numerous challenges, says Mr. Jolin. AEFO will continue working to promote the interests of its members and the development of Franco-Ontarian education in these difficult economic times."
Mr. Jolin has taught both in Barrie and Ottawa. He has been actively involved with AEFO since 1992, namely as full-time president of the Catholic Centre-East Unit for the last five years. He is currently a member of AEFO's Board of Directors and a former member of the Ontario Teachers' Federation (OTF) Board of Governors.
AEFO represents 10 000 teachers and education workers in Ontario's French-language elementary and secondary schools, both Catholic and public, and workers in other French-language establishments.
