AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE FOR CHILDREN - THE P'TIT MARATHON RADIO-CANADA
MONTREAL, Sept. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - Radio-Canada is proud to encourage young people to get physically active and enjoy the unique experience of the Oasis Montreal Marathon by taking part in the third annual P'tit Marathon Radio-Canada, to be held on Sunday, September 5.
The P'tit Marathon Radio-Canada features two races. The starter pistol for both will be fired at Maisonneuve Park by M. Craquepoutte himself from the program Toc Toc Toc, the event sponsor. The first race, starting at 8:29 a.m., is the provincial championship. It is reserved for the winners of 13 marathons run by children aged 3 to 11 all across Quebec during the 2009-10 season. The second, which gets under way at 8:30 a.m., is the actual P'tit Marathon, and is open to all registered participants. Last year, over 2,000 people ran the full one kilometre. Mr. Craquepotte will also award medals and special gifts to the top three runners in each event.
Once again this year, Radio-Canada has pulled out all the stops to give the young participants a fitting reception. A large tent will be set up on the Montreal Olympic Stadium site, where runners can meet many characters from the Radio-Canada.ca/Jeunesse website. Annie Desrochers, host of 275-Allô / Ados radio, will interview participants. Then Annie Brocoli from Broco show will invite children to pick up their gifts and meet the stars of Radio-Canada's youth programs: Youï, Azim and M. Craquepoutte from Toc Toc Toc and Frédéric Barbusci and Renaud St-Laurent from Pseudo radio.
The P'tit Marathon Radio-Canada is a joint initiative of Radio-Canada and the Oasis Montreal Marathon. By giving young people a chance to enjoy the unique atmosphere of a major marathon in the company of their favourite stars, it demonstrates the public broadcaster's ongoing commitment to sports and young people.
