'Angels In Action' to honor the ground-breaking work & celebrate the successes of their retiring founder at an official torch-passing Brunch & BBQ event, this Sunday
OTTAWA, Oct. 16, 2014 /CNW/ - In the summer of 1999, Fay Bisaillon was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
She was confident that she would receive world-class treatment and then go through the balance of her life -- cancer free. Sadly, just 11 months later at just 43 years of age, Fay died.
In the year following her death, Fay's sister, Linda Laframboise, organized a dinner to coincide with Fay's birthday. The goal was to honor her memory and to raise funds for research into ovarian cancer and improved patient care in the Ottawa area.
Fay's death, according to Linda, was "the catalyst behind Angels In Action", an Ottawa based volunteer organization she founded that would be dedicated to raising funds for ovarian cancer research and patient care in our region in collaboration with the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.
15 years, and many events later, Angels In Action has raised more than $250,342.55 in Fay's memory; yet, no reliable early detection test for ovarian cancer exists. However, a number of solid breakthroughs appear to hold incredible promise for those fighting ovarian cancer currently.
