"Animal welfare is everyone's business!" at the National Pet Industry Trade Show
OTTAWA, Sept. 12, 2012 /CNW/ - The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (pijaccanada.com) is proud to promote their "Animal welfare is everyone's business!"™ campaign at their 24th annual National Pet Industry Trade Show in Mississauga this weekend. Over 225 manufacturers and distributors will be gathering to meet with pet retail and service businesses at this industry exclusive event to show off the latest in pet products and learn about emerging industry trends.
This year the association is offering a new forum for the industry to share what they do to help improve the well being of pets in their communities beyond their day to day operations. "The "Animal welfare is everyone's business!" campaign is about putting a spotlight the great work being done, and inspiring other businesses and communities to connect. Collaboration is a gateway to successfully improving the wellbeing of our pets." says PIJAC Canada president, Keith Burgess.
The campaign has spanned the country, collecting stories and raising funds for community food banks at each of the of the association's shows in Calgary, AB, Richmond, BC, St. Hyacinthe, QC and now Mississauga. "There has been very little coverage about the positive efforts being made. We felt it was time to offer a place where reputable pet businesses can tell their stories." explains McCann. The association will be collecting stories during and following the trade show and posting them on their website. In addition, stories that fit the criteria of the upcoming Summit for Urban Animal Strategies Awards will be submitted as candidates for award nominations.
The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council of Canada (PIJAC Canada) provides leadership and communication between all sectors of the pet industry through resources, training, and advocacy to promote the highest level of pet care.
