MONTREAL, March 19, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Vanier College is pleased to announce that Montreal recording artist Annakin Slayd will be emceeing a Band Competition to help raise funds for Vanier's 23rd annual Symposium on the Holocaust and Genocide. The event will feature several bands competing against one another for cash prizes while audience members will be voting in real time using the MyVote mobile app. The event which is cosponsored by the Holocaust Education and Genocide Prevention Foundation, will take place Friday, March 27th at 8:00 pm at Le Rouge Bar located at 7 Prince Arthur Avenue in Plateau Mont-Royal.

For the past 22 years Vanier College has held an annual Symposium to raise awareness and educate young people about racism, discrimination and genocide. All proceeds of the Band Competition will be donated to the Vanier College Foundation to support the annual Vanier College Symposium on the Holocaust and Genocide from April 13- April 17th 2015.
"I am extremely proud to participate in this event as it's an extremely worthy cause. There are a lot of talented musicians in this city and I'm looking forward to seeing these bands perform. I invite all Montrealers to come out to Le Rouge Bar on March 27th," said Annakin Slayd
To kick off the evening, Glen Ethier, Coordinator of Vanier's Music Department, will be performing as the opening act with his band, The Last of the Duke Street Kings. Many of the bands competing in the event are composed of Vanier students in the Music Program.
