Announcement by the Chief Justice of the Superior Court of Québec with respect to the Honourable Michel Girouard

MONTREAL, June 14, 2016 /CNW/ - The Honourable Jacques R. Fournier, Chief Justice of the Superior Court of Québec, announces that the Honourable Michel Girouard will be relieved of his regular responsibilities and will be assigned to administrative duties as a coordinating judge for the judicial districts of Rouyn-Noranda and Témiscamingue during the new inquiry to be conducted by the Canadian Judicial Council, which will examine his behaviour before the committee responsible for hearing a complaint concerning him. This inquiry has been jointly requested by Jody-Wilson Raybould, Minister of Justice for Canada, and Stéphanie Vallée, Minister of Justice for Québec.

The Superior Court will not comment further on this subject.
