Annual Morningstar® Awards Gala to be Held Nov. 25 in Toronto Français
JUNO award winner and lead singer of the Barenaked Ladies Ed Robertson will host awards dinner and perform
TORONTO, Nov. 12, 2015 /CNW/ -- Morningstar Research Inc., a Canadian subsidiary of independent investment research provider Morningstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: MORN), will host its annual Morningstar® Awards gala on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. The Morningstar Awards are designed to help investors identify the country's most exceptional funds and fund managers for the previous year.
Morningstar Awards are announced throughout the year around the world, honouring managers who have added the most value for investors. Fund and fund group nominees are selected based on sound quantitative methodologies that emphasize outperformance over one-, three-, and five-year periods.
The analyst-driven Fund Manager of the Year awards recognize managers who have not only achieved impressive risk-adjusted returns, but have also been strong stewards of shareholder capital over the long term. For the complete 2015 awards line-up, please visit www.investmentawards.com.
"We've convened some of the best manager researchers in Canada to choose the country's best mutual funds, pooled funds, and ETFs," Christopher Davis, Morningstar Canada's director of manager research, said. "Acknowledging that winners tend to be more-established players, we've introduced the new Breakout Manager award to recognize up-and-comers who are worthy of investors' consideration. Across all of the awards, the jurors are focused on the same factors: management strength and stability, a sound process, and strong risk-adjusted performance."
Ed Robertson, lead singer, songwriter, and a founding member of Barenaked Ladies, will perform and host the awards dinner. The evening will start with a networking cocktail reception, which will feature a series of short award presentations, followed by the awards dinner and an after-party. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on exclusive items at a silent auction, proceeds of which will go to charitable beneficiary MusiCounts. Auction items will include a Queen Charlotte Lodge fishing adventure, a WayHome Music Festival VIP package, and a 45th Anniversary JUNO Awards package as well as signed guitars by iconic artists including Neil Young, Shania Twain, Mumford and Sons, and the Black Keys.
MusiCounts is a Canadian music-education charity associated with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization behind the nationally televised JUNO Awards. MusiCounts' mission is to provide students with access to comprehensive music programs in Canadian schools. For the sixth year in a row, Morningstar will donate the proceeds from all submission-based awards to MusiCounts.
The Morningstar Awards gala attracts more than 500 guests annually. Individual tickets are $377 plus HST and range from $3,675-$4,500 plus HST for a table of 10. Full event details, including online ticket sales, are available at www.investmentawards.com.
