The innovative, alternative school (part of the Toronto District School Board) welcomes the partnership and professional assistance. "We are eagerly looking forward to connecting our students to high-profile, real-world learning opportunities through this partnership. We're also excited about getting Anomaly's help to build our schools' profile," said Craig Morrison, Founder of the Oasis Skateboard Factory. "We welcome the opportunity to work with an agency that shares our values and our culture, and wants to share its' considerable talents with our community to make a difference."
The partnership will include a Mentorship Program for each student, as well as a Learning Series aimed to help the students develop entrepreneurial and brand-building skills so they can successfully market their skateboard products. Additionally, Anomaly will be commissioning the students to create an original art installation in its' offices on Spadina Avenue.
"Since we opened in Canada a year ago, we've been looking for a way to use our skills and talent to give back to our community. Given the youthful and energetic spirit that pulses through our agency, we've been particularly interested in helping underserved youth," said Franke Rodriguez, Partner and President at Anomaly. "When we met Craig, it immediately clicked - The Oasis Skateboard Factory gives us the opportunity to hook up with a local initiative that shares our values of creativity and entrepreneurialism to really make a difference over a sustained period of time. Perfect."
The partnership starts this month and will run for the full school year (2013 – 2014).
