Another Season of Road to The Royal Kicks Off at Paris Fair on September 2
Public can sample creations prepared by chefs using local food ingredients
TORONTO, Sept. 1, 2017 /CNW/ - The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair kicks off its 2017 season with the first of the Egg Farmers of Ontario Road to The Royal Farm to Table Demonstrations scheduled over the next month. This year, the Road to The Royal program will feature a culinary demonstration and sampling. The opening event is at the Paris Fair on Saturday, September 2nd from 1:00pm to 2:30pm in the Exhibition Hall of the Paris Fairgrounds.
"The Egg Farmers of Ontario Road to The Royal events have been a big hit with audiences across Ontario over the past four years," says Charlie Johnstone, chief executive officer at The Royal. "In the past, we have focused on culinary competitions but this year we're all about local food – and giving our audiences a chance to see how local farm produce is transformed into a delicious meal."
The Paris event will feature two local chefs: Jeritt Raney, executive chef at Proof Kitchen + Lounge in Waterloo and Brett Pottruff, chef at The Kitchen in Brantford. The chefs will be demonstrating recipes that use local ingredients. Fruit and vegetable grower Kara Pate from Brantwood Farms in Brantford and egg producer Tonya Haverkamp from Listowel will be on hand to answer questions about their work on the farm. In addition to the stage demo, the Egg Farmers of Ontario Road To The Royal Farm to Table Demonstration chefs will provide samples of their creations to the audience.
The 2017 Egg Farmers of Ontario Road to The Royal program is supported in part by Celebrate Ontario.
