Anthony Ariganello named Chair of B.C. Audit Council

Province names five members

VANCOUVER, April 26, 2012 /CNW/ - The Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA-Canada) is pleased to announce that Ida Chong, Minister of Community, Sports and Cultural Development has appointed CGA-Canada President and CEO Anthony Ariganello as Chair of its newly formed council to select and oversee the Auditor General for Local Government (AGLG).

"I'm honoured to be appointed Chair and applaud the province for the creation of the Audit Council," says Mr. Ariganello. "One of our first tasks will be to make a recommendation to the minister as to who should be appointed Auditor General for Local Government."

The Audit Council will be responsible for monitoring the performance of the AGLG by reviewing and providing comments on performance audits, annual reports and service plans. It will also disseminate information about recommendations made by the AGLG.

The council includes professionals with experience in accounting, law, finance, business and local government. The four other members appointed today are: Rick Heney, partner and lawyer with Fulton and Company LLP; Donalda MacDonald, a vice-president of Westminster Savings Credit Union; Lisa Payne, chief operating officer for software maker Colligo Networks, and Tim Wood, retiring chief administrative officer for the District of Saanich.
