Aon Hewitt Best Employers Study Reveals Quebec Employees Are Among the Most Engaged in Canada Français
Study indicates that quality discussions with managers are vital to employee engagement
MONTREAL, March 15, 2013 /CNW/ - Quebec employees give their employer a higher rating for the quality of interpersonal relationships with their manager than their counterparts in the rest of Canada. This is one of the main reasons why their engagement score is one of the highest in the country, after Nova Scotia, according to the results of a study conducted by Aon Hewitt, the global human resources consulting and outsourcing business of Aon Corporation (NYSE: AON), in conjunction with the Queen's University School of Business.
The average engagement score for Quebec Best Employers is 79 percent, which is the same as the national average score for Best Employers. However, when survey responses from Quebec-based workers are compared to those from Canadian employees overall, the Quebec engagement score is 4 points higher than the national engagement score.
"Employees from Quebec organizations appreciate the feedback they get from their managers, as well as recognition for their work and support from their bosses," says André Mercier, Partner at Aon Hewitt in Montreal. "They place more value in things like a sense of accomplishment, career opportunities and trust in senior management."
Best Employer organizations are determined by the employees themselves. Their answers to our study measure not only employee satisfaction and commitment (the extent to which they enjoy working for their employer), but also their level of engagement (the extent to which they are willing to surpass themselves to improve the company's results).
"The study results also show a higher level of satisfaction with regard to total compensation, including employee benefits, and work/life balance," adds Ms. Mercier. "When employees are highly engaged, that enthusiasm and commitment is bound to have a positive impact on other employees in the organization."
