Apotex Inc. invests in patient care reinvented: pledges $10 Million in support of the New Humber River Hospital
TORONTO, Aug. 22, 2013 /CNW/ - Apotex Inc. today announced a transformational gift of $10 million in support of the Emergency Department at the NEW Humber River Hospital - North America's first fully digital hospital.
Mr. Jack Kay, CEO of Apotex Inc., the Honourable Deb Matthews, Minister of Health & Long-Term Care, and Dr. Rueben Devlin, President & CEO of Humber River Hospital, joined friends of Apotex and Humber River at the construction site of the new hospital to announce Apotex's pledge. Mr. Kay presented Minister Matthews and Dr. Devlin with a cheque for $10 million, followed by the unveiling of a sign celebrating Apotex's commitment to the hospital.
The new hospital's Emergency Department will be named in recognition of Apotex's generosity. Their gift will enable Humber River to expand access to state-of-the-art emergency care services for the people of the northwest Greater Toronto Area when the new hospital opens in the Fall of 2015. The new Emergency Department is expected to see over 114,000 visits in the first year, providing a full range of emergency care services to patients and families.
This expression of Apotex's support for Humber River Hospital is just the latest in a twenty-year association between the two organizations.
