Appeal for Witnesses to Collision in London

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 1 /CNW/ - The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is appealing for witnesses to a collision that occurred in London on Monday afternoon.

On September 28, 2009 at 1:35 p.m. , a motor vehicle collision occurred at Wellington Road and Bradley Avenue involving a white Chevrolet van and a green Jeep. One of the vehicles involved in this collision was an unmarked police cruiser. The driver of each vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The lead investigator in interested in speaking with any member of the public who may have witnessed the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call the SIU at 1-800-787-8529. Please refer to file 09-OVI-253.

The SIU is a civilian agency that investigates cases of serious injuries (including allegations of sexual assault) and deaths involving the police. Pursuant to section 113 of the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU is mandated to consider whether a criminal offence has been committed by an officer(s) in connection with the incident under investigation and, where warranted by the evidence, to cause a criminal charge or charges to be laid against the officer(s). The Director reports the results of investigations to the Attorney General.
