Applications for Çekmeköy Municipality Alija Izetbegovic International Science Olympics are on
ISTANBUL, March 14, 2017 /CNW/ - In 2016, Çekmeköy Municipality dedicated International Science Olympics to the Nobel Laureate scientist Aziz Sancar. In 2017, the second of the Science Olympics are a tribute to Alija Izetbegovic.

Today, technology advances at an unprecedented pace. It is a fact that such growth will continue uninterruptedly. Çekmeköy Municipality humbly intends to encourage the youth towards science through Science Olympics, hence to welcome more scientific studies and projects both at domestic and international levels. Alija Izetbegovic Science Olympics intends to make sure that a young generation generates international interactions in science, technology and innovation. Accordingly, projects designed by students of high schools and their equivalents will be presented within the scope of the International Science Olympics. In collaboration with many universities from Europe, Asia and the United States, the competition will be open to students of high schools and their equivalents around the globe. Accredited by a number of universities, the competition also gives a unique opportunity to ranking students to enjoy educational opportunities at those universities.
TL 96,000 PRIZE IN TOTAL FOR 15 PROJECTS
Applications in "Research", "Technology" and "Energy Efficiency" categories are expected until April 21, 2017. Students will upload their projects to http://www.icatmakinesi.com and to http://www.scienceatturkey.com where detailed information is available. Finale exhibition of the projects will be at Marma Hotel in Istanbul on May 18-19, 2017. Projects entitled to be on the finale exhibition will be evaluated by jurors. The top five projects will be selected per category. TL 15,000 will be given to winners of each category, TL 10,000 to second places, TL 5000 to third places and TL 1000 to fourth and fifth places. Total prize is TL 96,000.
AN AWARD CEREMONY NO DIFFERENT FROM A YOUTH FESTIVAL
Alija Izetbegovic International Science Olympics award ceremony is scheduled for May 20. Famous pop singer Mustafa Ceceli will take the stage. It is anticipated that the award ceremony will take place at Haliç Convention Centre upon participation of the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
